The tiny dark specks in the upper left corner are birds that were soaring along the leading edge of the gust front, like surfers riding a monstrous wave. If I had arrived at this beach just two minutes later, I would have missed this whole spectacular scene..

I was three minutes from home when I took this. The skies were the meanest I've ever seen them. I had a bad feeling about this storm and decided it wasn't worth the risk. 30 minutes later it went tornado warned and we did have an EF1 briefly touch down about 20 mins from my place in Naperville.

Even though the funnel doesn't look like its touching the ground, I did observe multiple suction vortices circling the funnel at times.

Little did I know my 2 hours sitting on the floor would pay off with 2 meteors in quick succession. The amber color is light pollution which was unavoidable.

Sunday evening 7th Dec 2014 - Michael Bath (Legend Aussie chaser and friend) and myself enjoyed this light show that was about 200km away from where we were near Lismore Northern NSW Australia. Taken at 75mm on my beautiful "Big Bertha" Nikkor 70-200mm lens. Not long till our storm season and I will be chasing November and December and am hanging for more of these...
